Do you know what’s the fastest way to quiet your overthinking?

By asking your mind a question.

Overthinking is your mind demanding reasons for every thought you have.

I used to find extremely clever reasons to not manifest my thoughts, and some part of me would feel smart to have come up with that level of cleverness.

Now, looking back at that clever me, I ask, “Did you really know what you truly wanted?”

And he’s probably blinking at that question.

Here’s what I learned that has lightened my mental load more than I expected.

My overthinking was only a symptom of not knowing what I truly wanted, and letting every thought pull me away from a place I didn’t even define.

And here’s an observation:

With every anxiety I overcame, I had more clarity on what I truly wanted.

You too can look back at your past self to realize this.

The current you is a little clearer about what you want than the old you, to have overcome that exact suffering you’ve just endured.

And now, with this anxiety you’ll eventually overcome, only more clarity about your desires will you gain than what you currently have.

I’m not talking about huge life goals. But just a place to anchor your current mind and give it a direction, so that it doesn’t wander.

It doesn’t have to be perfect the first time. You can always refine and adjust later. But having an anchor, an end goal, is a non-negotiable, and a huge reliever.

Right now, figure out what you truly want. And you’ll immediately feel the relief of a weight lifted off your mind.

That’s the first question to ask your mind: “What do I truly want?”

Take 2 minutes right now to ask yourself this question and notice if the load feels lighter.

Next week, I’ll meet you with the next question that quiets your mind even deeper.
